Protocol / World Dodgeball Multi-Year Distribution Deal Kicks off with
nationally-televised 2018 Dodgeball World Cup on the ESPN platform in the USA
Protocol Sports Marketing Ltd. has entered into a multiple-year agreement with the World Dodgeball Association (WDA) to serve as the exclusive international television, digital and streaming rights distributor and production services partner for all WDA-sanctioned events.
In concert with this announcement, both Protocol Sports Marketing and the World Dodgeball Association are pleased to announce that the 2018 Dodgeball World Cup – which is being held on August 4, 2018 at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden – will be televised live on ESPNU and available to stream via the ESPN App in the United States of America.
The official world governing body of Dodgeball, the WDA operates in partnership with 62 national dodgeball federations, and has been warmly welcomed into the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) by securing Observer Status. The inaugural Dodgeball World Cup was held in 2016 in Manchester, United Kingdom, and the 2018 edition is the culmination of Continental Championships that took place in 2017 across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
According to WDA President Tom Hickson, the partnership with Protocol Sports Marketing and telecast on ESPNU are important steps to elevating Dodgeball’s international perception as both a participation sport and a spectator sport. “We are very excited that Protocol Sports recognizes the vast opportunities that lay ahead for Dodgeball, and Protocol Sports is proving to be an excellent collaborator in pursuing commercial opportunities for our governing body,” says Hickson. “What more can be said about having our 2018 Dodgeball World Cup televised live on ESPNU, except that it is a major milestone in our journey to build participation and spectatorship.”
